Copycat Recipe - Hot Butterbeer from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

A little bit of magic in a mug.

1 stick of butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 to 2 Tbsp heavy whipping cream
1 tsp butter flavoring
1/2 tsp rum flavoring
4 cups milk, hot

Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar until blended. Heat until bubbly. Stir in just enough heavy cream until the consistency resembles a thick syrup. Stir in butter and rum flavorings. Whisk mixture into hot milk. Add a dollop of topping (below) and enjoy!

2 cups marshmallow fluff
2 to 4 Tbsp heavy cream
1/2 tsp butter flavor
1/4 tsp rum flavor

Beat all ingredients together until smooth and creamy. It should be thick, but able to drizzle.

Harry Potter Butterbeer

1 Tbsp butter
1/2 cup butterscotch ice cream topping
1 to 1 1/2 cups cream soda
butterscotch candies, crushed into fine bits or powder

Melt butter, and add ice cream topping. Mix until butter and topping are well blended. Cook until bubbly. Let sit for 30 seconds or so. Slowly add soda. (Will fizz a lot.) Pour into mugs and top with crushed butterscotch candies.

* I could NOT find normal butterscotch ice cream syrup. (I even went to multiple stores!) All I could find was a caramel butterscotch topping. So that's what I used. So obviously, there was a taste of caramel to it, but I felt like the butterscotch flavor was more dominant.
* I made it with both one cup and then another batch with 1 1/2 cups of soda; I liked the 1 1/2 cups much better. I guess it depends on how thick you want it.
