3/4 cup soft shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
2 1/4 cup flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cloves
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
Mix shortening, egg, sugar, and molasses together. Mix in dry ingredients. Chill, then roll dough into 1 1/4' balls. Dip tops in granulated sugar. Sprinkle each with 2-3 drops of water. Bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes.
